1. Punch Bowl with Vernors

Vernors is a staple here in Michigan. We drink it when we’re sick, when we’re not, when we party and when we’ve partied too hard. I knew it was awesome, but even I didn’t know it was America’s oldest ginger ale! No holiday punch is complete without it. Hey, if you object to Vernors, you could always try one of the many flavors of Faygo pop. GET THE RECIPE

2. Orange PushUp Smoothie

If you need a little warm-weather dreamin’ this holiday season, think orange push-up. Grandma used to buy us orange Push-ems all summer long from the Schwan’s man. If she ever said no, we just begged until she gave in. Grandma’s are cool like that. I like Michigan-made rum in mine, but you can leave it out for the kiddos. Makes a great breakfast drink. GET THE RECIPE

3. Blueberry Crème Smoothie

Did you know “Michigan is the number one state in highbush blueberry production“. Blueberries are not only tasty, they’re also super-nutritious. Plus they make a very pretty smoothie for your holiday table. GET THE RECIPE

4. Tropical Sunshine Smoothie

Another amazing citrus smoothie, this one with coconut extract. I added rum & called it a pina colada smoothie, but that’s totally optional.  It tastes amazing with or without. GET THE RECIPE

5. Coconut Chai Smoothie

My daughter has me hooked on chai tea. Add that to my love of coconut & I might just whip this up for breakfast every morning! GET THE RECIPE

6. Apple Pie Moonshine

In addition to Vernors, Faygo and fresh milk, Michigan also produces quite a bit of booze. Hey, winters are treacherous in the mitten. We gotta keep warm. Try this recipe with Michigan-made corn whiskey and concentrate from Michigan apples. Heck, we even grow the sugar. GET THE RECIPE

7. Homemade Eggnog

As I read the recipe and she explains that she did not use raw eggs, I was suspicious. I was imagining scrambled eggs tossed in a blender. It’s nothing like that, I promise. After reading the entire recipe, it totally makes sense. Safe for young & old alike.  GET THE RECIPE

8. Baileys Irish Cream Hot Chocolate

More Bailey’s. Sorry, I can’t help myself, it’s just that good, especially in this very grown-up version of a root beer float. GET THE RECIPE

11. Wassail

Cider, spices and bourbon meld nicely to keep you warm throughout the holiday season. We like to mix it up with our favorite Featherbone Bourbon organic whisky from Journeyman Distillery (another Michigan gem) – and if you leave out the bourbon, kids love the cinnamon sticks! GET THE RECIPE

12. Snickerdoodle Martinis

I had to google this one, but the RumChata is gluten free, as is the Absolut Vanilla. YAY! (This info is based on info I found online. If you have any concerns, please contact the companies, or you doctor directly.) SO YUMMY!  GET THE RECIPE
